#EDO 2020: EDO STATE IS NOT LAGOS….Onuesoke Repeats To Tinubu As Obaseki Coasts To Victory

"Edo state remains Edo state and cannot be likened to Lagos state".... Onuesoke Tells Tinubu.

With the ongoing collation of the results from the just concluded gubernatorial elections in Edo state, strong indications are rife of the return of Godwin Obaseki to the Osadebey House for another term, showing that Lagos politician and former Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has failed to foist his candidate on the people.

Chief Sunny Onuesoke, prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PPD had repeatedly counseled the former Governor of Lagos state that Edo state remains Edo state and cannot be likened to Lagos state that has remained under his vice grip for over two decades.

Godwin Obaseki, the PDP candidate for the Edo state gubernatorial elections has assumed a clear lead ahead of his closest competitor, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressive Congress.

Onuesoke, in a statement on Sunday, 20 September in Benin City, the Edo state capital, reiterated his wise counsel to the All Progressive Congress, APC chieftain to refrain from getting involved in the moves to foist an unwelcomed candidate as governor for the good people of Edo.

According to Onuesoke, “it has become necessary to provide this counsel lest it brings about a collapse to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s already dwindling political relevance in the Niger Delta region and the country at large”.

“Edo state can never be Lagos state where Tinubu and his ilk have pocketed for selfish gains as the people of Edo state are strong-willed and know when to say no to bad governance, bad leadership and autocracy”, Onuesoke stated.

“With a clear lead in about fifteen out of the 18 local government councils in Edo state, celebrations are already renting the air of victory over despotic and unwanted elements whose only purpose and intent of contesting the ticket is to impoverish the state and people of their resources through fraudulent means”, the PDP Chieftain disclosed.

He called on INEC, the security agencies, party faithful to remain vigilant and ensure that nobody is allowed to falsify the figures that have already been announced at the Wards and Collation centres which are already before the public as anybody found to connive with criminal elements to upturn the peoples mandate will be exposed and rightly prosecuted.,

“It will be very unpatriotic for anybody or group to foist a leader on the good people of Edo state who have taken a collective decision to return Godwin Obaseki and Phillip Shaibu back to office to finish the good work they started in 2016”.

“Obaseki refused vehemently to share the resources of the people of Edo state with political leaders and their cronies which became a sin in the eyes of the “failed godfathers” and their cronies but instead, chose to develop Edo state and create wealth for the people”, Onuesoke stated.
