Edo 2020: PDP Campaign Council, Governors, South-South People Perfects Winning Strategies For Obaseki's Victory.
"Vote Governor Godwin Obaseki, a perfect gentleman and a visionary leader who genuinely has the interest of Edo people at heart".... Okowa Tells Edo People
....As Former APC National Chairman, Chief Odigie-Oyegun Denied Ever Endorsing Ize-Iyamu, Commends Obaseki's Bravery And Good Governance Initiatives.
The biggest and the greatest political mass mobilization podium cum mother of all electioneering campaign grand finale was mounted in the ancient city of Benin on Tuesday September 15, 2020 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, by the National Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ably chaired by the sagacious and highly vocal indefatigable governor of Rivers State, Barrister Weysom Wike.
The mega rally turned out to be the gathering of White Eagles in the history of Edo politics; as no rally of such magnitude has ever taken place in Benin City, since the advent of constitutional democracy in Nigeria.
PDP colours overwhelmed the ancient Benin Kingdom from all locations across the three senatorial districts. Top and masterclass aristocratic dignitaries and consummate political leaders convoys blasted caution and security sirens to signal the beginning of a landslide victory for the peoples governor of Edo State, His Excellency the true son of Edo, Governor Godwin Obaseki and his capacity deputy and king of the boys, H.E Shiabu.
The message was very clear, PDP is back on track, ready and willing to take over Aso Rock in 2023, as can be seen from the enviable sagacity, synergy and strength of unity rekindled to take the party to greater heights, not only to effortlessly win the governorship election in Edo State on Saturday, September 19, but very enthusiastic and proactive in all ramifications to send President Muhammadu Buhari and the infamous All Progressives Congress, APC, from the Presidential Villa and from the national political radar.
Chairman of South-South Governors Forum, SSGF, and renowned electioneering and political strategist, Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa of Delta State, was visibly in high spirit and proved his wealth of experience in political mass mobilization as all present and past members of PDP NWC, past and present governors, members of states and national assembly, political appointees and all elected representatives from top to bottom were in attendance coordinating millions of party faithfuls and supporters that relocated to Edo State, to drum up support for the landslide victory of PDP and her governorship candidate in the September 19 election.
In his historic remarks at the over crowded Obasaki campaign grand finale mega rally, Gov Okowa urged Edo eligible voters to vote wisely by reelecting governor Godwin Obaseki, describing him as a perfect gentleman and a visionary leader who genuinely have the interest of Edo people at heart.
He said PDP governors were in support of Obaseki’s re-election because of his sterling performance in the past four years.
According to Okowa, if Obaseki did so much in his first term in office, in spite of all the challenges he encountered, it will be in the interest of Edo people to ensure that he is re-elected for a second term to enable him execute more development projects in the state.
He commended Obaseki and PDP in Edo for the Ward-to-Ward campaign for the Saturday poll, describing it as unprecedented.
He urged the electorate to be vigilant and ensure that their ballots would count, adding that they should not be afraid.
The governor assured the people that he and all his colleagues in the South-South would be on ground on Saturday to ensure victory for the party.
"Let me commend Governor Obaseki and the Edo PDP for their campaign which they went round all the Wards in the state.
"This is unprecedented and very commendable because it is the first of its kind for any governor to campaign from Ward to Ward.
Obaseki is one governor we are very proud of in the Governor's Forum because of his high knowledge in economic development and good governance.
"He has done very well in this first term in spite of all the challenges he encountered in his former party and it is my firm belief that re-electing him for a second term is in the best interest of Edo people," he said.
In his address, National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, called on Edo people to punish the All Progressives Congress (APC); by voting Obaseki for a second term, pointing out that Edo was not Lagos where one man was in total control.
On his part, Mr Nyesom Wike, Rivers Governor and Chairman PDP National Campaign Council for Edo Governorship Election, called on the people of Edo to turn out en masse to vote and protect their votes.
National Vice-Chairman of PDP in South-South, Chief Dan Orbih, said that the party was in good stead to win the Saturday polls as the people had resolved to vote and protect their votes.
He said that PDP's main rival in the election relied on "Federal Might" to rig the polls, but that PDP in Edo was relying on God's power and the people's support to win.
Earlier, Chairman of PDP in Edo, Mr Tony Aziegbeni, had in his welcome address urged the people to stand firm during the polls assuring that the party was behind them to ensure victory for Governor Obaseki.
In a related development, the former National Chairman of APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has denied neither endorsing nor predicting the election victory of Osagie Ize-Iyamu, saying that his heart goes out to Godwin Obaseki, for his unique leadership qualities and for saving the dignity and respect of Edo people in the face of irresponsible leadership recklessly displayed by former APC national Chairman, Mr Adams Oshiomole.
Chief Oyegun's press state signed by him and made available to newsmen clearly berated Ize-Iyamu campaign media team for trying to use his hard earned reputation and goodwill to fraudulently lure eligible voters, pointing out that he neither endorsed the ratified governorship candidate of APC nor ever predicting his victory at the polls, adding that he does not belong to the APC faction of "Lions and Tigers."
The former federal super Permanent Secretary and ex-governor of Edo State disclosed that he remained solidly behind Obaseki before he was rudely frustrated out of APC by an irresponsible cabal headed by Oshiomhole and that he shall continue to hold Obaseki in high esteem because of his responsible leadership style, his good governance initiates to Make Edo Great Again; and for standing firm to protect the pride and dignity of Edo people, in the face of irresponsible leadership and political rascality shamelessly exhibited by the disgraced former national Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole.
In the light of the above, the coast is clear and Obaseki/PDP landslide victory on Saturday September 19 governorship election is sealed, signed and delivered by Edo people.
The rally was attended by Governors of PDP-controlled states led by Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, and they include Nyesom Wike, Ifeanyi Okowa, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Prof. Ben Ayade of Cross River, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom.
