OPINION: APC Delta Lacks Visionary Leadership, Blind To Okowa's Monumental Achievements. By Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq.

It appears the Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is under a spell working against the growth and leadership of the party.

It is on record that the party in the state has been consistently bedeviled by multiple factions wherein, two separate chairmen claim superiority over each other, as can be seen from the unending war of words between Mr. Jones Ode Erue of the Senator Ovie Omo Agege faction and Chief Cyril Abiye Ogodo of the Olorogun Otega Emerhor faction.

Of a truth, the Omo Agege faction is regarded as the opportunist faction because, Olorogun Emerhor and Chief Festus Keyamo are well known to be the original founding fathers of the party in the state.

However, Omo Agege and Chief Great Ogboru pulled a fast one on the duo of Emerhor and Keyamo by going through the back door to hijack the party for various purposes.

On the one hand, Omo Agege used Chief Ogboru to climb to the National Assembly; he subsequently became Deputy Senate President and then messed, up Chief Ogboru.

It is now common knowledge that Ogboru is regretting for ever partnering with Omo-Agege in 2015. His tears have been flowing endlessly. Ogboru has been relegated to the back seat in both Delta APC and in national politics, no thanks to DSP Omo Agege.

The Emerhor faction remained focused and overwhelmed by the DSP's power play influence but the deep pocket of Emerhor cannot be ignored as we navigate towards yet another highly complicated electioneering era in 2023. For real, Emerhor will bounce back haven learnt some bitter political lessons in the hands of Omo-Agege and Ogboru.

Ogboru, on the other hand will gather strength to deal ruthlessly with DSP Omo-Agege for using him to climb to power and subsequently dumped him without any measure of pity.

Delta APC is in a shadow of itself, membership nose diving consistently and further worsened by the bad governance offered Nigerians by the infamous Buhari-APC national government.

To save face, the factional Publicity Secretary of the party, Imonina Sylvester Esq has been publishing some worthless articles and issuing misleading statements; to create the false impression that the party is working towards taking over power in 2023 in the state.

Yes, constructive criticism is part of the democratic process, not when it is obvious that the statement of the APC Delta factional camp goes to no issue. It must be stated clearly that, mushroom press statements, based on kangaroo politics does not and can never translate to winning any election.

Therefore, the APC Delta factional Publicity Secretary must understand that his fragile party will have to first undergo self-cleansing and prove to Deltans that it is united and offers quality internal leadership, before attempting to checkmate the party in power.

As it is today, Delta APC membership is below 2,000 financial members across the three senatorial districts in the state, and therefore, it is strongly recommended that the party should focus on building internal unity and membership drive. First, put your house in order. As it is today, APC lacks moral justification to cast aspersing in the face of a totally collapsed national economy under President Buhari.

The arbitrary hike in electricity tariff from N20 to N67 and petrol pump price from N145 to N148 and to N152/161 within three months is a clear sign of a mismanaged economy.

Therefore, APC Delta should first worry about the clueless government at the centre. Delta PDP and Okowa are in good standing as far as good governance is concerned.

Daily issuance of baseless statements further compounds APC Delta frustration occasioned by decrease in membership and multifaceted internal party squabbles. I feel very sorry for the factional Publicity Secretary of Delta APC, Mr. Imonina because he knows next to nothing about the "devil's political chess game" in his moribund party.

Okowa's projects are there for all to see across the three senatorial districts, but Delta APC choose to look the other way. The Stephen Keshi International Stadium is not visible to the party. The multi-billion Naira near completion State Secretariat did not catch the fancy of Delta APC. The six Technical Schools that were re-constructed, equipped and now functioning in full capacity is not a good initiative as far as APC Delta is concerned. What a clueless party!

Needless to talk about the gigantic Kwale Industrial Park under construction that attracted foreign investors. APC Delta is blind to the inflow of huge foreign investments at the Park expected to provide thousands of new jobs for our people.

The YAGEP and STEP job and wealth creation programmes of the Okowa administration which took over 10,000 jobless youths from the streets is not any achievement as reasoned by Delta APC; but her members can sing unending praises of President Buhari for sharing N5,000 stipends to market woman. We know that N5,000 cannot provide nutritious breakfast for a family of five in Nigeria, due to APC national government induced economy.

I can go on and on but needless to join issues with APC Delta and her quarrelsome leaders whose financial prosperity is substantially anchored on internal party squabbles and dubious court cases. It is shameful that APC Delta can issue press statements arbitrarily without self-examination. I pity Mr. imonina, the sacrificial factional publicity secretary.

From this day forward, we shall serve Delta APC in the right dose. PDP is the mega party in Delta and there is no sign that APC exist in the state political radar.

We shall teach APC Delta some bitter political lessons in 2023, which is why there is calm from this end, time shall tell. The political storm is ahead and Delta APC cannot escape the disaster.
