..... Ban Police From Asking For Vehicle Papers And Driver's Licence.

Against the ongoing #ENDSARS Protests that has engulfed the entire country in the past two weeks, a Defense and National Security Strategist, Bish Johnson, a retired Captain of the United States army, has provided solutions that will bring to an end, the constant altercations between the personnel of the @NGPolice.

According to Johnson in a statement, "if the federal government of Nigeria is serious and committed to reforming the Nigeria Police, it should begin by immediately banning personnel of the Nigeria Police from asking motorists for vehicle papers and drivers licences".

The Security expert stressed that, "The police is not the issuing authority for these documents and therefore, has no means and capacity of authenticating the validity of these documents. It can't tell which documents are genuine or fake". 

He noted that, "For lacking the capacity yet still demanding that motorists present to them, their vehicle papers and drivers licences, the police has already demonstrated ab initio, that its motive was not well intended, not for the interest of the society instead their own selfish interest to extort from innocent motorists".

"Let me be clear here, Nigeria police  personnel do not ask for these documents because they want to discover and recover stolen vehicles. These documents are demanded by officers of Nigeria Police because they use it as guise to make contacts and extort money from innocent but vulnerable motorists".

"The Federal Road Safety Corps of Nigeria is the issuing agency and authority of vehicles papers and drivers licences and should be the agency asking for these documents while the Nigerian Customs Services is the agency that should ask for vehicle papers of new and yet to be registered vehicles". 

"These agencies have the capacity to authenticate these documents when they are provided, not the Nigeria Police", he disclosed.

"The Nigerian government is surprised that despite accepting the conditions given by Nigerian youths who have been protesting for days, the youths are still in the streets of major cities across the country and beyond, including Atlanta, London, Los Angeles, New York etc. The truth and reason why these young men and women are still in the streets is because these youths have not seen any practical measures taken by the government, instead all they hear from their government is empty promises and threats".

He stressed that, while some of the demands of the #ENDSARS protesters will take time to achieve, others can be immediately achieved by the government to demonstrate that it is serious and committed to reforming Nigeria Police. 

"One of the steps the government can take now is to totally, permanently and immediately ban personnel of Nigeria Police from asking for vehicle papers and drivers licences from motorists as the police is not the issuing authority and therefore lacks the capacity to authenticate and determine the validity of these documents", he advised
