PARTICIPANTS APPLAUD ORGANIZERS OF 2ND EDITION OF STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS WORKSHOP IN DELTA STATE
"The workshop, facilitated by Barrister Fred Oghenesivbe Latimore, an exceptional media strategist and communications expert has in the true sense, raised the bar for media practitioners in Delta state especially, media aides to political office holders of government".... Akpojeneta.
The just concluded 2nd Edition of Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop
has been described as timely and effective, considering the influence of social
media in the current global standing of media practice.
The Strategic Communications Workshop, organized by the Executive Assistant on Communications, EAC to the Delta state Governor, Sen. Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, has continued to receive commendations from several quarters especially its participants.
Dr. Okowa’s approval of the workshop and its attendant gains, aimed at improving on the communication skills of media practitioners, considering the place of social media in effective governance cannot be overemphasized.
The workshop, facilitated by Barrister Fred Oghenesivbe Latimore, an exceptional media strategist and communications expert has in the true sense, raised the bar for media practitioners in Delta state especially, media aides to political office holders of government.
According to one of the participants, Latimore’s foresight in crafting the workshop is deserving of commendations and applause as, every participant(s), who adopts the skills acquired from the workshop will place him/her in a better stead to carry out his or her duties much more professionally and effectively.
This was the position Godfrey Akpojeneta, a media practitioner and attendee of the workshop as he appealed to the delta state governor to make the workshop a regular exercise that would help address media issues, caused by the advent of the social/news media that will in turn, help reduce the damaging effects of quacks in the media profession.
The calibre of resource persons at the 2nd Edition of the Strategic communications workshop, with the theme; “Effective Communication and Media Crisis Management” comprises of some of the best hands in the academia who provided in-depth explanations on the theme of the workshop.
With the coming of social media, some of the present day practitioners are lacking of the needed prerequisite training in any of the fields of mass communication and its ethics but are however, proficient on Facebook and other social media apps.
The social media has become one of the most mis-abused platforms and therefore, the workshop on Strategic Communications by Barrister Fred Oghenesivbe Latimore has created the needed enlightenment, sensitization and awareness for participants, that will in the long run, enable them perform their jobs, more professionally.
It is therefore imperative that the Executive Assistant on Communications, Dr. (Barr) Fred Oghenesivbe Latimore and all others involved in organizing this highly impactful workshop, are deserving of commendations and this also includes His Excellency, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, without whose immense support and approval, this programme would have been a waste.
Kudos to Barrister Fred Latimore, Olorogun David Edevbie, Chief of Staff to the Delta state Governor and Mr. Charles Aniagwu, the Honourable Commissioner for information for their perseverance and commitment towards organizing this programme.
