DC-23: EXCLUSION OF YOUTHS FROM NATIONAL EXECUTIVE AND BOT LIST IS AN INSULT ON YOUTHS - IBEBE RUFUS

An Urhobo Youth leader and Advocate for a better society, Comrade Ibebe Rufus Akpobome has discribed the exclusion of youths from the national Executive and BOT list of DC-23 (a Political pressure Group of PDP with the aim of ensuring Delta Central Senatorial District produce the next Governor of Delta State) as an insult to youths of Delta Central Senatorial District.

Comrade Ibebe wondered why a group who claim to have the interest of Delta Central Senatorial District at heart would not find youths worthy enough to be added to their National Executive and BOT list but flood the list with majority of old leaders whom have been recycled over the years.

This thought of his, was sent to this news platform via a statement by him.

He called on youths to demand for the pressure Group to reserve some key offices for the youths and stage a boycott from activites of group if the demand to have youths on the national Executive and BOT list is not meant.

He said in the statement that, youths should not be considered to be only good for appointment as personal and media aides.

Below is the full text  of the statement as sent to Najj news media platform.

"To me, publishing the list of National Executives and BOT members of DC-23 without Names of Youths on it to occupy key roles pass a very clear message to the youths from those they (youths) kill themselves defending and supporting both physically and on social media platforms and an insult on youths of Delta Central Senatorial District most especially youths of PDP from the District.

For a group that said they want to determine who become the governor of Delta state from Delta Central in 2023 to have leaders whom have served in one capacity or the other and even had women leaders but could not consider Youths or office of Youth leader to be added to their list of executive tells us how the pressure group lack respect for the youths.

Evidently, those that drafted this list of National  Executive and BOT, like I said above, have insulted and passed a very clear message to members of the general public. The message is that youths to them, are only good at defending their actions (either good or bad), sing their praises and be  appointed as media aides but not good enough to be added as members of their National Executive or BOT.

Soonest, youths would be appointed as MEDIA or PERSONAL AIDES to one officer or the other of DC-23. Appointing youths as Aides have become perhaps the only office some of these recycled leaders whom have failed us in the past feel is good enough for youths.

I plead with youths to be wise. Let every youth demand that a certain percentage of the National Executive and BOT positions be given to youths to occupy. Should they refuse, all youths should stage a boycott from activites of the body. That way, the Pressure Group would crumble because I am confident that those on the list cannot function without the youths. Many people on that list are so busy that they would have little or no time to concentrate on any assignment that their office in the forum would give to them. They would rely on the same youths whom they feel are not worthy to be National Executive and BOT members to carry out these assignments for them while they receive the glory.

To me, youths must stand up and firmly to resist been used and disrespected."
