FUPRE Reopens Admission Window, Invites Missed UTME Candidates

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, has commenced the registration for its supplementary Post-UTME screening exercise for the 2026/2027 academic session, offering another opportunity to candidates who missed the initial screening or now wish to change their institution of choice to the university.

The supplementary exercise is scheduled for August 24 and 25, 2026, while registration will close on August 23.

In a statement signed by the University Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) E. Jane Omoyine, FUPRE said the exercise is open to candidates who missed the initial Post-UTME screening held between July 21 and 25, as well as eligible candidates who have completed the required change of institution to FUPRE.

Candidates seeking admission must have scored at least 160 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

They are also required to have FUPRE as their first-choice institution, or have successfully changed their institution of choice to the university. In addition, applicants must possess at least five relevant O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.

Eligible O’Level examinations include SSCE, NECO, GCE and NABTEB, while candidates must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026.

The university said registration is being conducted through its admission portal, utme.fupre.edu.ng, at a screening fee of N2,000.

However, candidates who participated in the initial screening exercise in July are not required to take part in the supplementary exercise.

Established in 2007 to develop specialised manpower for Nigeria’s petroleum industry and related sectors, FUPRE has grown into a specialised institution offering 32 undergraduate programmes across five colleges.

The university, recognised as Africa’s first specialised petroleum university and the sixth of its kind globally, offers programmes spanning science and engineering, technology, computing, maritime studies, petroleum administration and management.

FUPRE said its academic model combines classroom learning with practical training, technology, innovation and industry relevance to prepare graduates for opportunities in the petroleum, energy and other emerging sectors.

The institution urged eligible candidates to register early rather than wait until the deadline and advised prospective applicants to regularly monitor the admission portal for official updates.
