BUHARI, ETHIOPIAN PRIME MINISTER EXCLUDED FROM WORLD SUMMIT BY BIDEN

"Democracy means the people choose their leaders and when the people want someone else, new leaders come in. It means the rule of law, freedom of expression and of the press. It also means separation of powers and respecting court orders".

World leaders, including African Heads of State and Government, who believe in and abide by the rule of law and democracy, were on Wednesday invited to attend a summit in December, scheduled to hold in the United States of America, USA.

The invitation was extended to the various World leaders and the African Heads of Government by the U.S. President, Joseph R. Biden Jr.

However, African leaders likely not to be invited may include Nigeria’s Muhammadu Buhari who is violating human rights in Africa’s most populous nation, and Cameroon’s Paul Biya who has been in power for almost 40 years and is the beneficiary of sham democratic elections, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali who has been accused of grave human rights violations in Tigray.

Others may include the Eritrean leader Isaias Afwerki whose troops are committing atrocities in Tigray and many others, including King Mswati III of Eswatini and the President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni, who do not believe in democracy or the rule of law, and of the people. “Today President Biden is pleased to announce that in December he will bring together leaders from a diverse group of the world’s democracies at a virtual Summit for Democracy, to be followed in roughly a year’s time by a second, in-person Summit,” the White House said in a statement on Wednesday morning. Democracy means the people choose their leaders and when the people want someone else, new leaders come in. It means the rule of law, freedom of expression and of the press. It also means separation of powers and respecting court orders. It also means term limit, not being in power for 40 years like Biya of Cameroon or disregarding court orders and oppressing your people and banning social media platforms like Buhari of Nigeria. It is not also using guns and bombs ahead of an election like Abiy of Ethiopia. It’s the rule of the people, for the people and by the people. President Biden is convening this summit because as he has said, autocracy is rising all the way from China and Russia to Africa, and questions are being raised about whether democracy will survive and can still deliver results, or whether autocracy and the rule of the jungle will prevail.
