The African Church: His Eminence, Dr. Emmanuel Josiah Udofia Affirmed as Authentic Primate For and Of The African Church....Re-unification service underway

Following concerted efforts by concerned leaders and elders, peace has finally been restored to The African Church, Nigeria.

Several peace meetings, brokered by His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso CON, a Patron of The African Church, held at the Cathedral of St James idi-Akpe, Abeokuta, Ogun State, according to the General Secretary of the African Church, Evangelist Eddy Orogun, was responsible for breakthrough.

Evangelist Eddy Orogun disclosed that the non Yoruba section (South South and Benue) of the Church had protested the erroneous retirement notice earlier served on the Primate in 2019 by management of the Church which led to the initial separation.

He further revealed that the non Yoruba section of the Church, presented a nine point proposal as their position for total reconciliation, during the meeting on Friday 8th July, 2021.

Primate of the African Church

A committee of seven persons each from the two sections of the Church, including the Benue Province, has been approved and mandated to look into the grey areas for a lasting peace.

An acceptable communique to this effect was read to the Church at the end of the meeting by the General Secretary, Evang. Eddy Orogun.

The meeting had in attendance, Oba Dr. Adewale Adedapo Tejuoso, Engr. Babatunde Odufuwa, Archbishop D.B. Kaladokubo ( representative of Primate E. J. Udofia ), Archbishop Julius Abbe, Archbishop Oludotun Ogunseye, Archbishop S.O.B. Ojumu and Archbishop Offiong Offiong Mensah.

Others present are, Bishop Peter Ogumuyiwa, Bishop Isaac Falana, Elder Idonesit Ekpanya-Antia, Engr. Awoye Lawson Ogaree, Justice Ezekiel Enang, Dr. Caroline Etim, Elder Chris Bozwa, Barr. Ezekiel Okorode, Elder Otonteye Idoniboye-Obu, Elder Onengiye Amachree, Chief Eddy Amosu, Chief Muyiwa Aluko and Bashorun P.A. Sholola.

Others are; Bro. Uwouku Charles (Benue Province), Chief Matthew Eyuren (Vice Lay President of Agbarho Diocese), Provincial Trustee of Rivers Province Evang. Kenneth Egwero, Cathedral People's Wardens of St James Idi-Akpe and St. Stephen's Cathedral Uyo amongst others.

It was indeed, a glorious feat achieved after 2 years of both sides going their separate ways. 

Tasked on why it took this long for the leaders to broker peace amongst the disagreeing groups and, what exactly were the reasons for the factionalization of the Africa Church, Evangelist Eddy Orogun revealed that Primate E. J. Udofia was retired prematurely, contrary to the resolution of 2014 Conference and the decision of the Uyo Central Diocese General Committee which recommended that the retirement letter be withdrawn. The cabal insisted that he must go. The South South and Benue memebers of the Church decided to part ways.

It took this long because of pride and ego of the cabal but, the will of God has prevailed at last.

Responding to factionalization in most churches that have always been attributed to dominance and who controls what, Evangelist Orogun disclosed that, the premature retirement of Primate Udofia caused the separation. 

On what were the causes and how were the agreements reached, the General Secretary further revealed that, the South South and Benue made some 9 proposals which a select committee of 14 equal representation, to look into the grey areas and make recommendations to the General Committee before a reunification service will take place.

Mankind is meant to learn from history. We have had similar crisis before but it was not along ethnic or tribal lines.

Reacting to fears that the crises that engulfed the African Church would reoccur and if, the aggrieved groups are satisfied with the level of peace moves brokered by Kabiyesi Oba Tejuoso and, how sustainable will this be, the General Secretary stressed; "Kabiyesi Oba Tejuoso is very committed to the peace of the African Church. He deployed everything in his disposal to get to this stage. He is a spirit filled man who should be emulated".

Kudos must go to Kabiyesi, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso who stood like a trojan to make sure peace was brokered.
