POSER: SHEHU SANI, FFK, WHO IS BETTER?

Sen Shehu Sani & FFK

The gale of defection by Nigerian politicians and political leaders alike, has continued to rule the political space with many of them creating waves by the "ship-jumping" and giving reasons that will make even the devil green with envy.

In the last 48 hours, two notable political figures have joined the wagon and list of defectors to the two major political parties; the ruling All Progressives Congress APC and the People's Democratic Party PDP.

These two figures, a former Human Rights Activist turned politician; Comrade Shehu Sani, was until a few hours ago, a top ranking but disenchanted member of the APC and also, a member of the 7th Senate of the National Assembly who lost his reelection bid while the other is Chief David Oluwafemi Adewunmi Abdulateef Fani-Kayode, popularly known and called Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation

While Senator Shehu Sani is from the Northwest state of Kaduna, Chief Frmi Fani-Kayode is from Ogun state, Southwest of Nigeria. Both of these political figures are known for their outspokenness, fearless and courage in speaking out at any given time.

Both men have had their fair share of political miscalculations, taste of power and of course, lost out in political permutations thereby, ending in the political wilderness.

The announcement by former Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode of his decision to finally dump the PDP for the ruling APC, as against his declaration, did however not come to many as a surprise.

While his defection attracted so much furore, resulting in jest and opprobium across the political space, FFK will surely not be forgotten in a hurry. We recall that rose through the leadership circle from Minister of Culture and Tourism before appointed as Aviation Minister between 2006 and 2007.

Thereafter, he gradually moved out of focus of mainstream political leaders to becoming more of an "attacking politician and critic". His antecedents is presumed to be known to all; frolicking with virtually all of the governors and providing endorsement to governors including the opposition.

In the case of the Human Rights Activist, Comrade Shehu Sani, Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic who served in the 7th Senate of the National Assembly, his criticisms of his party leaders and again, what some had described as too free with his personal views, resulted to him running into troubled waters with his party members and of course, a plot was hatched to ensure that he lost his Kaduna Central Senatorial seat in the 2019 General Elections.

Senator Shehu Sani, is also known to have been a strong critic of government and its policies and that had endeared him to many who had seen him as an emancipator of sorts, to the downtrodden in the society.

However, what has drawn attention of the Nigerian media space to these two men are their decision to dump their different political parties, to opposing sides. While Senator Shehu Sani's defection carried lesser media attention, that of FFK still trends in virtually all the television stations and social media outlets.

The two major political parties believe that they have each scored a hit with their latest intake. This has therefore, raised the poser of the week; Who Is Better, Shehu Sani of Femi Fani-Kayode?

While in the APC and holding sway, Senator Shehu Sani had used every available opportunity to lash out at Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, when he was President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Same goes for FFK, whose lashing of Muhammadu Buhari, never ceased until few months back.

Back to the poser; Shehu Sani, FFK, Who Is Better?
