NASARRAWA POLICE COMMAND BUST KIDNAP GANG, ARREST KINGPIN

The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of one Abubakar Mohammed, (m) a notorious member of a five-man kidnap gang that has been disturbing the peace of residents of Nasarawa and Plateau states.

This was the disclosure by the Police Public Relations Officer in charge of Nasarrawa state, ASP Ramhan Nansel to journalists on Monday, in Lafia, the state capital.

Nansel, in the statement, explained that the suspected kidnapper who had been on the watch list of the police, was arrested by officers of the Command in the Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

According to Nansel, "Sequel to consistent onslaught against kidnappers and other criminals in Nasarawa State, on 5/9/2021 at about 0130hrs, while acting on credible intelligence, one Abubakar Mohammed, a 28-year-old man in the Akwanga LGA was arrested by police operatives attached to Akwanga Area Command.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of five-man gang of kidnappers who were terrorising Barkin Ladi area of Plateau State but relocated to Wamba Road, Akwanga LGA of Nasarawa State after two of his gang members were neutralised by security operatives during a fierce gun duel in Plateau State.”

The police spokesman, while warning all criminal elements to flee Nasarawa without further delay, said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi, has directed that the case be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command for thorough investigation
