APC CHIEFTAINS DUMP UMAHI IN EBONYI, DEFECT TO PDP IN BID TO HELP ANYIM'S PRESIDENTIAL BID

The presidential ambitions of Anyim Pius Anyim received a further boost on Monday 28 Dec. 2021 when a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC in Ebonyi State dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in support of the former Senate President.

The defection of Mrs. Martha Nwankwo, penultimate Monday, followed closely on the heels of a major stakeholder of the APC in Ebonyi State, Chief Augustine Ede Eze, as they both have similar reasons for dumping the APC ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Ede Eze who is a Board of Trustees member of the APC, announced his defection to the PDP at an empowerment rally organised by Dr. Sam Egwu on December 28 at Ohaukwu in Ebonyi state. Dr. Egwu represents Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone at the Senate. Ede Eze while declaring for PDP, thundered: “I can’t seat on the fence watching a man who appears to be the only hope for the redemption of Nigeria labour alone.”

“I want to be  part of those who will help Anyim to rescue Nigeria,” he declared.

Eze, while addressing the crowd of PDP faithful, described Anyim as the best material ever to come from Ebonyi state, saying Nigeria would regain its unity and oneness once more if Anyim is given opportunity to rule Nigeria. 

He stressed that destiny had brought Anyim to play the same role in the Nigerian Senate in the past, same destiny, he stated.

“I believe is throwing Anyim up once again, this time.”

Meanwhile, Mrs Nwankwo who is the National Chair person, Governor David Umahi Empowerment Beneficiaries, made her defection declaration at the civic reception organised by PDP, Ohaozara local government, in the council Area, December 29, in honour of the newly elected state chairman of the party, Chief Tochuku Okorie. 

Nwankwo, who was appointed the Coordinator, Ohaozara East Development centre, by Governor Umahi, said she decided to abandon Umahi and APC because she has discovered that the Messiah Nigeria has been waiting for is already here with us in PDP. 

According to Nwankwo, the movement for Anyim Pius Anyim for Presidency under the auspices of PDP is infectious. 

"Anyone who is still in APC and has not recognized the positive signs of God in the declaration of Anyim for Presidency is simply an incurable pessimist. 

Apart from leaving APC, having discovered that Governor Umahi was only using them to serve his personal interest, Nwankwo also declared: “I’m also leaving APC for PDP because of Anyim, the best personality to ever emerge from Ebonyi."
Nwankwo, who retired as a Head of Personal Management (HPM) and Deputy Director, Administration and General Duties, Ebonyi State Local Government Service Commission, lamented the lack of promotions in the Civil Service system in the state. According to her,
"It's frustrating to continue to remain under a system that is shrouded in darkness when Anyim’s light is illuminating everywhere under PDP,” she said.
Lamenting further she said: “I’m tired of working for Umahi under APC only for him and his family to be feeding fat.”
Nwankwo promised to deploy all the strategies she invested into bringing Umahi to power to the advantages of PDP henceforth. According to her, she would mobilize the youths and women, using the channel of Ebonyi state Federations of Women Entrepreneurs of which she is the Coordinator, to garner support for PDP. 
Chairman of PDP in Ebonyi, however, assured Mrs Nwankwo of every necessary support she would require to do exploits for PDP in Ebonyi state.
