Reports making the rounds in certain social media platforms that the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Malam Haruna Sae'ed had defected to the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been debunked as untrue and an attempt to mislead the public.

In a statement signed by Zaharaddeen AbdulRazaq, Head, SDP/Haruna Saeed Media Team and made available to journalists in Kaduna on Tuesday, the SDP Gubernatorial aspirant expressed his surprise at the information that purportedly announced his defection describing it as untrue.

The statement said; "The Social Media has been awash with news that our Leader in the SDP, Mal Haruna Sa’eed, AG, has decamped to the PDP today the 27th of December, 2021. This is not so. 

"The fact of the matter is that he hosted the Ward and some Local Government leadership of the PDP in his house in Kajuru who had gone to extend an invitation to him to join the PDP. In fact, this wasn’t the first meeting such invitation was extended nor would it be the last as it was reported that a higher delegation would be visiting him again. Indeed such had been coming to him from many groups and individuals across party lines and will continue until he closed the matter with a decision yet to be made."

According to the head of the SDP/Haruna Media Team, he noted that the former NEITI Executive Secretary and Kaduna's longest serving ever Accountant General remained grateful to the leadership of the PDP including other groups and stakeholders that have shown their interest in the political conditions in the state and his person.

He said: "In any case, he (Haruna Sae'ed) has remained grateful to PDP leadership in this case and to all the other groups and individuals that have shown interest in the political conditions in Kaduna State and his person. He is also, grateful to those who have commented on the news, positively and negatively. He also assures all that his decision will be made on the issue as soon as consultations are completed."

"In the interim, he calls on all to put the Country, the State and his humble self in prayer. What is needed most now is prayer so that Allah, in His infinite mercy, will deliver this Country and our State, Kaduna from the serious challenges we face. Only His help and sound leadership can overcome the challenges we face. 

"His love for the Country, State and our people will be the guiding principle as he weighs the decision to make. He remains committed to the course of the people, in the State and the Country at large. "

The soft spoken and very patriotic Haruna Sae'ed who is passionate for a better society for the good people of Kaduna State, thanked everyone who has showed concern and interest in the future of the state, for their understanding, concern, love and care.
