Kaduna South Senatorial District with a geographic size of 14,428km² and current population estimate of over 2.5 million residents, spreads across the following local governments such as Jaba, Jema’a, Kachia, Kagarko, Kaura, Kauru, Sanga and Zangon Kataf.

This senatorial district is home to one of Africa’s oldest civilisations, the famous Nok Culture with artefacts dating back to 1500 BC, popular tourist festivals such as the Afan and Tuk Ham festivals and various tourist attractions ranging from the Kagoro Hills to the  Gurara and Martsiga Water Falls.

A major food basket, Kaduna South Senatorial District produces the best export grade ginger in Africa. Ginger from Southern Kaduna is highly sought after globally for its unique taste and potency. Furthermore, this district produces maize, millet, acha (hungry rice), soya bean, potato and rice as well in sufficient commercial quantities.

Sadly, this district suffers from insecurity, youth unemployment, with minimal social amenities and facilities.

Of these challenges, insecurity has all but crippled economic activities within the district especially in the past decade.

Insecurity steadily depletes the population as innocent, young and productive members of the society are wasted with reckless abandon. Even government is affected as revenue, thanks due to the effects of businesses either scaling down operations, shutting down or relocating to safer areas, adding to the unemployment situation  among youth of the District.

Luckily, one of Southern Kaduna’s distinguished sons, Honourable Sunday Marshall Katung (SMK) has seen and understood these challenges and in the race with the commitment to do everything necessary to tackle insecurity in the area and return those in IDP Camps to their home through effective legislation in the Nigerian Senate if given the opportunity to so serve.

SMK, like many well meaning Nigerians, believes that with the appropriate legislation, the whole security apparatus of the Nation can be rejigged to tackle the current security challenges being experienced by all Nigerians.

As a former member of the House of Representatives, he will build upon the National Security Trust Fund Bill which he sponsored. This bill took into cognisance, the provision of military and security hardware with the attendant infrastructure, technology and welfare for security agencies in Nigeria and for security related matters.

A skilful negotiator, SMK will also leverage on acquaintances built and networks developed across all divides to seek support for his legislative agenda seeking to revamp the security architecture in the country and his Constituency.

In addition to legislation on insecurity, he will lobby to attract federal projects and investments that will provide jobs and sustenance for the hard working people of Kaduna South Senatorial District.

Sunday Marshall Katung (SMK), an emphatic and dogged politician, began his political career when the late Honourable Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa appointed him as Commissioner of finance in 2010 and in 2015 was elected by the people of Jaba/Zangon Kataf Federal Constituency to represent them in the House of Representatives.
