“Many of our members are displeased with him. He has shown incompetence in discharging his duties. Except the Vice Chairman of the Committee who has always held us back in taking action against him, every other person in the Committee is full of complaints.

“How can you be in a Committee that its Chairman does not even call for meetings? He does not communicate with the members and no other person except him knows what is happening in the Committee. Even the Vice Chairman is not aware of his activities.  We have decided to suspend him and request that the Senate President makes arrangements for his immediate replacement.

Emerging reports have revealed that, the Senate Committee Chairman on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, Senator Uba Sani, is presently, enmeshed in a crisis following a move by members of his Committee to move for his suspension from office.

Senator Uba, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District of Kaduna state, according to trending reports, fell out with his colleagues in the committee who have insinuated that he has been carrying out a one-man committee and operating without their knowledge, activities of the entire committee.  

Not letting up, members of the committee has also commenced a probe the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN over its non compliance to financial regulations as observed by the Committee.

A member of the Committee, who preferred to remain anonymous, told our reporter on Tuesday, that the members of the Committee are fed up with the attitude of its Chairman, Senator Uba Sani.

The committee member, who is also from the same region as the embattled Chairman, noted that Uba Sani has failed to meet up with the expectations and services expected of a committee chairman

“We are also ready to probe the Central Bank over some cases of financial irregularities.

“We will reveal our investigations on the CBN as soon as possible.” The source said.

Also speaking, another member of the Committee who is equally from the North, noted that Senator Sani may not survive mere suspension, adding that the aggrieved members of the committee are bent on making public, his informal deals with the CBN and other agencies the Committee oversights.
