FG SEEKS TO REVIVE BILATERAL RELATIONSHIP WITH SPAIN

"Africans should have a new robust relationship with the Republic of Spain, in the area of security and business for the mutual gains of the two Nations." Aregbesola.

Federal Government has accepted to revived the long term bilateral relationship that existed between her and Republic of Spain, which subsequently got lost, seven hundred years ago.

Minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, said this during a visit to his office, by Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria Mr. Joan Soll, and Interior Attachee, Mr. Custavo Carrido, yesterday, in Abuja.

The Minister, in a statement signed by Afonja Fatai Ajibola, deputy director in charge of the Press and Public Relations Department of the Interior Affairs Ministry, averred that Africa had the longest and the most profound relationship with Spain.

He noted that "Africans should have a new robust relationship with the Republic of Spain, in the area of security and business for the mutual gains of the two Nations."

Speaking earlier during course of the courtesy visits, Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr.Joan Soll accompanied by his Interior Attachee, Mr. Custavo Carrido, informed the Minister that the purpose of their visits was to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Nigeria government in the area of security and international trade, and also sharing of experience with the host country for their benefits. 

Top Ministry of Interior functionaries in attendance, are Director Citizenship & Business, Mrs Moremi -Soyinka Onijala, representing the Permanent Secretary.

Others dignitaries at the event were: Senior Special Assistant to the Minister Mr. Ademola Adeyinka, Director Bilateral and Multilateral, Mrs. Adeniyi Christie, Director Planning Resarch and Statistics Mrs. Abiodun Binuyo.
