The Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) has enjoined the Christian Faithful to make the best of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, to be Christlike in their day-to-day endeavours towards raising the bar of nation building.
General Magashi (rtd) stated this in a message to felicitate with Nigerians especially the Christian faithful on the twin occasion of this year's Christmas and New year celebrations.
He said the celebration of Christmas in the Christendom represents a significant milestone that calls for sober reflections on Christ's exemplary character, conduct and forthrightess.
The Defence Minister, in a statement issued and signed by Mohammad Abdulkadri, Special Assistant to the Minister of Defence on Media and Publicity, urged Christians to emulate the virtue of sacrifice of Jesus Christ, towards making the country great among comity of Nations.
While congratulating Christians for witnessing yet another Christmas which marks the birth of Jesus Christ, he urged them to pray for peace and tranquility in the country.
He called on christains to pray for the Leadership of the country and for peaceful conduct of the 2023 general elections to take democratic governance to the next level.
The General who noted that Christ is the ultimate reason for the season, paid tributes to the members of Armed Forces who died in the line of duty and those who are safeguarding the nations' territorial integrity.
While praying for a hitch free Christmas celebration, the Minister wishes all Christians and indeed all Nigerians, a happy and prosperous New year ahead.
