CULT KILLINGS IN SAPELE: RIGHTS ACTIVIST CALLS FOR REDEPLOYMENT OF POLICEMEN ..... Condemns Cultism, Criminal Activities

"The killings in Sapele Delta State is getting out of hand." 

Right Activist, Israel Joe has condemned in very strong terms, the increasing rate of cult related killings in Sapele and has therefore, called upon the Commissioner of Police in Delta state Command, CP Ari Mohammed Ali to redeploy Policemen in Delta.

Comrade Israel Joe, who is also the Secretary of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, Delta State Branch, stressed that the recent cult killings in Sapele, Sapele Delta State, has assumed a worrisome dimension.

He made the call in a statement sent to newsmen after one person was shot dead in front of his compound in Mosogar and another abducted in the same Community.

"The killings in Sapele Delta State is getting out of hand." He said.

"Yesterday, four persons were killed and today, the lives of another four persons have been taken. 

"We cannot live in a society where human lives are more common compared to that of chickens.

"How do these cultists and 'pick-up' people feel ending the lives they never created. It is pitiable that government never took proactive steps about the kill¡ngs of previous weeks which gave them the guts, temerity and impetus to continue unabated."

Comrade Joe urged the Delta State Police Command led by CP Ari Muhammed Ali to ensure the immediate transfer  of policemen who have served or stayed more than three to five years out of Sapele Police Division. He insisted that the Policemen should be redeployed saying, "They are so used to these boys tipping them that when these persons misbehave, no reasonable actions are taken.

"We must open up a conversation about this. We must talk about it and should interrogate the very causes to eliminating it."
