Concerned and well placed stakeholders in the medical sector have began reacting to claims that the newly commissioned hospital in Kogi State by President Muhammadu Buhari, as the "First" and "Best in Nigeria" have discountenance the claim "as a lie" in relation to the claim of having the first Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber in Nigeria if what is already on ground is taken into consideration.

Experts in the field of medicine, particularly those stakeholders conversant with Hyperbaric Medicine have debunked the claims of the Kogi State Government that its recently commissioned edifice is the first in terms of the existence of facilities for handling Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (Hyperbaric Medicine)  in Nigeria.

In a brief chat with NAIJ NEWS ALERT following the claims by the Kogi State Government, that it has the first of such facility in Nigeria and Africa, one of Africa's best and Nigeria’s pioneer Consultant Fellow in Aviation Medicine; Hyperbaric Medicine; & Internal Medicine of both the West African College of Physicians and the USA - based but global Aerospace Medical Association, Dr Makanjuola Akindele Owolabi,  (“Dr. MAO") has discountenance this claim.

He disclosed that "Mends Specialist Hospital & Aviation Medical Centre” in Kaduna, Kaduna State has, indeed, since the year 1999, installed and operated successfully the FIRST modern Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber like the Kogi State one in  the Kaduna  hospital.
