A Human Rights Activist, Comrade Israel Joe today in Asaba, the Delta State capital, has counselled the Election Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP John Babangida that the right to peaceful protests is constitutional.

Activist Joe urged the Election Commissioner of Police, Delta state to not make statements that would aggravate the already tensed situation occasioned by the outcome of the Presidential elections in the State.

Joe said the result released by INEC did not reflect the ballot- expression of majority of Nigerians.

This is part of Joe's reaction in a statement signed and sent to NaijaNewsAlert.

"Instead of saying they will do everything within their powers to silent those who wish to protest, they(Police)should rather do everything within their duties to ensure a rigging-free process that would keep the state peaceful."

He urged CP Babangida to engage stakeholders like his Lagos counterpart and orient his officers to act right.

According to him, this will keep the existing peace of the State, during the forthcoming gubernatorial and Assembly elections.

Joe reacted to a publication credited to the Election Commissioner of Police, CP John Babangida as published by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe on 2023 Post election outcomes in the State.

He agreed with the Police that circulating fake videos of peaceful protest against the outcome of the 2023 presidential elections is not good.
