Tribunal, Courts 'll uphold Oborevwori's landslide victory - PDP Spokesperson
Rt. Hon Sheriff F. Oborevwori Governor-elect, Delta State |
..... Says Senator Agege's frivolous petition dead on arrival, exercise in futility.
Governorship candidate of opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Senator Ovie Augustine Omo-Agege, on Wednesday gave some laughable reasons why he decided to challenge the landslide victory of Delta State Governor-Elect, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, wherein he cited vote buying, ballot box stuffing, alteration of figures, and so on and so forth.
In the same token, some APC so-called leaders and stakeholders met somewhere and passed vote of confidence on their failed Principal, Senator Agege, advising party members and supporters to be hopeful that one day that will never come, Agege who won in four local governments out of 25 LGAs will be declared winner either by hook or crook.
In a swift reaction to APC and Agege's lamentations, Spokesperson of the Delta State PDP Campaign Council, Olorogun Barr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, said Agege does not deserve to win in four local governments in the first place, if not for the anti party activities perpetuated by some ungrateful and deceptive stomach infrastructure members of the PDP.
He noted that prior to 2023 governorship election, Delta APC was bedevilled by petty squabbles and acute factionalization which pitched the leaders and stakeholders against themselves in various caucuses.
"The constant infighting was responsible for the poorly organized and mismanaged electioneering campaigns wherein leaders like Engr Barr Victor Ochei, Lauretta Onochie, Festus Keyamo, SAN, Dr Cairo Ojuogboh and others who refused to, and didn't campaign for the failed Senator Agege.
Oghenesivbe further averred that APC won in four LGAs in Delta State simply because some people who could not recover from Oborevwori's victory at the PDP governorship primary decided to play second fiddle in APC, as pay back for the failure of their preferred governorship aspirant, adding that after the inauguration of Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori as governor on May 29, those who defected cum anti party agents would return home to PDP, leaving Senator Agege and APC in the cold."
Oghenesivbe, who is also the Executive Assistant on Communications to the Delta State Governor and a full member of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, NIIA, said Agege was able to get APC ticket because the Buhari led party compensated him for stealing mace at the National Assembly which truncated the impeachment of Mr President, adding that Deltans see Agege's criminal conduct as an aberration on democratic tenets, and refused to give their precious mandate to a man with questionable character.
"It's very unpatriotic for Agege to shamelessly approach the Election Tribunal over an election that was adjudged free and fair by two other major contestants, Chief Great Ogboru of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and Engr Goodnews Goodman Agbi of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP. These are gallant losers who are truly patriotic, they love Delta and wants her consistent progress, but Agege does not care. Before the election, I told Agege and Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi that Oborevwori will retire them from active politics, here we are.
"Agege's allegations of vote buying, ballot box stuffing and alterations of figures must be proved beyond reasonable doubt both at the Tribunal and at the Courts above. And from all indications and testimonies of some of the contestants, there is no substance in his frivolous petition and it will end as exercise in futility.
"Deltans willingly, happily and conscientiously gave their precious mandate to PDP and Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, who won convincingly in 21 LGAs out of 25. This bold and sacred mandate will be upheld by the Tribunal as well as in our Courts and God will take all the Glory.
"After the inauguration of Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori as the elected Executive Governor of Delta State on May 29, APC and Senator Agege shall be deserted and left in the cold because those who left shall return home to PDP," Oghenesivbe assured.
