TCN’S KUMBOTSO TRANSMISSION SUBSTATION TAKES GGSS DUKAWUYA STUDENTS ON EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION

The visit by the students provided them with practical exposure to electricity transmission operations, bridging classroom theory with real-world application.

Science students from the Government Girls Secondary School, Dukawuya, Kano, were recently hosted by the Kano Sub-Regional Office of the Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN who were on an educational excursion to the Kumbotso 330/132kV Transmission Substation.

The visit by the students on the 4th August, provided them with practical exposure to electricity transmission operations, bridging classroom theory with real-world application. 

During the tour, TCN engineers guided the students through the electricity transmission process and explained the functions of key substation equipment, control room operations, and the safety protocols observed across the transmission network. 

The interactive session also provided an opportunity for the students to engage with engineers, ask questions, and gain first-hand insights into power system operations.

The excursion deepened the students’ understanding of Nigeria’s electricity transmission infrastructure and stimulated interest in careers in science, engineering, and technology. It further underscored the value of industry-academia collaboration in developing the next generation of technical professionals.
