"The exposure and continuous nurturing of the athletes will help the nation to do better than it did, when it came 18th on the medals table during the last World Athletics Championship in Oregon, USA.

The stage is now set for the One-day Zaria Athletics Grand Prix scheduled to hold at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Sport Complex pitch. 

One of the organizers and sponsors of the Meet, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau reiterated that the Grand Prix in Zaria has come to stay.

According to Alh. Gusau, the Meet on the 2nd of July will be used to prepare athletes from all over Nigeria for the National trials coming up in Benin on the 5th of July while the world championship in Budapest will hold from the 19th of August to 27th of August.

The Meet Director, Mr Sunday Adeleye disclosed that, just like the Zaria Prix in March, great performances are expected from the athletes.

In his words, "the exposure and continuous nurturing of the athletee will help the nation to do better than it did, when it came 18th on the medals table during the last World Athletics Championship in Oregon, USA.

The last Zaria Prix saw superb and great performances from young athletes like Hajara Haruna, Ayenuro Taiye, Salisu Ibrahim, Oche Emmanuel, Ogazi Samuel, Oshiokpu Grace.
