SENATOR LA: MATCHING PROMISES WITH ACTION Joins Works Minister On Inspection Tour Of The On-going Reconstruction Of Abuja-Kaduna Expressway Project In keeping to his promises of a better representation at the Hallowed Chambers of the National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, fondly addressed by his acronym, “Mr. LA” representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District has put action to his “Sponsored Motion” on the floor of the Senate. The sponsored motion on the floor of the Senate was the call for the immediate completion of the “Abuja-Kaduna expressway; the major link road between the Federal Capital Territory to the Northwest region and also, the Southern parts of the country and this had attracted commendation from across political parties in the Hallowed Chambers of the 10th National Assembly. The Abuja-Kaduna expressway, over the years has become a travelers nightmare owing to its deplorable state despite the contract for its reconstruction awarded to leading construction company; Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. The pace of work and the inability of Julius Berger Plc to complete the 1st Phase of the Project (Abuja-Kaduna) was attributed to the high level of insecurity along the stretch of road. Also, the inclement weather, compensation to communities and right of way and funding, were some of the other challenges that brought about the delay in the completion of the 160kms road project. Following the appointment of Ministers and the emergence of a highly qualified engineer as Minister of Works; Engr. Senator Dave Nweze Umahi, hopes of Nigerians has soared that this long overdue project will be completed and this, certainly will bring joy to Distinguished Senator that the federal government has given ears to his cry for the completion of the road. It therefore did not come as a surprise when the Distinguished Senator accompanied Honourable Minister of Works, Engineer Dave Nweze Umahi, alongside top functionaries of the Ministry on an inspection visit and obtain firsthand the challenges impeding its speedy completion. Indeed, this is the type of quality representation that the good people Kaduna state have lacked in spite of the fact that the immediate past president, Muhammadu Buhari is resident in Kaduna and Katsina states. This is indeed, sign of better days to come for the electorates especially commuters of this very important trunk road.
