JUBILATION, CELEBRATION AS TRIBUNAL UPHOLDS SENATOR LA'S VICTORY .... Dismisses Petition Of APC Candidate

Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has been officially cleared as the duly elected Senator for the Kaduna State Central Senatorial District for the 2023 general elections, by the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal.

This announcement follows the decision of the tribunal in Kaduna wherein, it dismissed the petition filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi.

The ruling by the tribunal which was delivered on Saturday, September 9, 2023 elicited jubilation across the state by supporters and teeming followers of Senator Lawal Adamu Usman "Mr. LA", a man widely celebrated for his philanthropy, political acceptance and genuine love and willingness to help the needy in the society had already been declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prior to the tribunal’s decision.

It is important to note that the election petition tribunal in its decision, cleared Senator Lawal Adamu Usman of all allegations of forgery thereby, upheld his victory. This further solidifies his position as the rightful and duly elected representative for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District.

Pertinent to note is that, at the 2023 election, Lawal Adamu Usman secured 225,066 votes to defeat his closest rival, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi (Dattijo) of the APC, who received 182,035 votes, thereby securing electoral victory for the PDP

The APC candidate, "Dattijo" had served in the cabinet of Malam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai as Chief of Staff to the Governor and later, as the Commissioner for Budget and Planning.

Political pundits and keen observers of the developments in the state applauded the verdict by the tribunal describing is a commendable step toward upholding justice and the rule of law, enhancing the public’s trust in the judiciary. It also raises expectations within the PDP that similar positive outcomes may occur in the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, potentially leading to the party’s victory in the gubernatorial race in the state."
