Nigeria's Minister of Works, David Umahi, has reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to equitable road infrastructure development across the country, declaring that no state will be left behind under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.

Umahi gave the assurance during a meeting with Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, where both leaders reviewed ongoing and planned federal road projects in the state.

The Minister said President Tinubu had changed the narrative of uneven infrastructure distribution by ensuring that road and bridge projects are spread across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. He noted that states which previously received little or no federal road intervention were now benefiting from major projects.

Recalling his tenure as Governor of Ebonyi State, Umahi said there were no significant federal road projects in the state at the time, adding that Ekiti and several other states faced similar neglect before the current administration.

He assured the Ekiti governor that all existing federal road contracts in the state would be executed in line with engineering standards and contractual specifications. According to him, the projects were awarded transparently in compliance with the Public Procurement Act, while the state government would be kept fully informed to facilitate effective monitoring.

Umahi added that the ministry remained committed to delivering durable, high-quality road infrastructure capable of boosting economic activities, improving connectivity and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Earlier, Governor Oyebanji thanked President Tinubu and the Minister for what he described as unprecedented federal road interventions in Ekiti State.

He recalled that after appealing to the President through the Minister, approval was granted for the reconstruction of the long-abandoned Ado–Iyin–Aramoko Road, with contractors mobilised to site within weeks. He said the swift execution of the project had strengthened public confidence in the Federal Government's commitment to infrastructure development.

The governor also expressed appreciation for the approval of the Ado–Ijan–Ikole Road, describing it as a strategic project that would enhance transportation and stimulate economic growth within and beyond Ekiti State.

According to Oyebanji, no administration since the creation of Ekiti State nearly three decades ago has demonstrated the level of commitment to the state's infrastructure development shown by the Tinubu administration. He said the people of the state now have a stronger sense of belonging due to the Federal Government's interventions in roads and other critical sectors.

The meeting highlighted the growing collaboration between the Federal Government and the Ekiti State Government in driving infrastructure development and economic growth.
