BETTA EDU FLAGS-OFF DISBURSEMENT OF #20,000 GRANTS TO VULNERABLE NIGERIANS IN SOCIETY IN KOGI STATE ..... Beneficiaries Laud Tinubu Over Promises Made, Promises Kept

The Honourable Minister, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Affairs, Dr Betta Edu has performed the flag-off of the disbursement of monetary grants of Twenty Thousand Naira (#20,000:00) to the vulnerable and the very poor of the poor in the society; as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration.

The flag-off programme which took place on 5th Tuesday, December in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, saw over ten thousand vulnerable persons recieving their credit notification alert from their individual banks.

The Minister, in a statement by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Rasheed Zubair, explained that "the programmes are designed to lift over 50 million Nigerians out of poverty in 42 Months."

Edu, in the statement, noted that the premium interest, the President places on women inclusion, is reflected in the fact that over seventy percent of beneficiaries of the Grant, across the twenty one local government areas of Kogi State, are women.

Dr. Betta Edu disclosed that 15% of the total number of beneficiaries was alloted to Persons With Disabilities and Senior Citizens, saying that President Tinubu is concerned about the welfare of all Nigerians, irrespective of party or religious lines.

"The Grants for Vulnerable Groups Scheme is designed to provide a one-off cash grant of twenty thousand Naira(N20,000) to the poorest of the poor and most vulnerable Nigerians in rural communities.

"This one-off grants is a kick-starter to improve your livelihood, support your small, petty trading and I advise that this opportunity should not be taken for granted or mismanaged," she added.

Warning the beneficiaries of the different intervention programmes and the general public to be wary of scammers, the Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation Affairs Minister stressed that the ministry has never asked anyone to pay any amount of money to register before they can access the different programmes.

The outgoing Governor of Kogi State, Dr Yahaya Adoza Bello who was present at the event, described Dr Betta Edu as one of President Tinubu's Good Products, saying; "Renewed Hope" is in Kogi State.

The Governor, while speaking further at the event, announced the creation of two new ministries; Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and Kogi State Social Investment Programme Agency. 

Governor Bello stated that all procedures with the Kogi State House of Assembly would be followed to enable the state benefit directly from the touch of the federal government.

He thanked President Tinubu for putting money into the pockets of the vulnerable persons in Kogi state, saying that; "the people are proud of the Renewed Hope Programmes of the President. Indeed “Beta Don Come”.

Some of the very excited beneficiaries who received their alert both inside and outside the hall, said their hope has been renewed and that, promises made to them by the government have been kept, describing President Tinubu as "a beacon of hope for the poorest of the poor in Kogi State and Nigeria."

The beneficiaries revealed that the credit alerts served as a lifeline for many of them, as it offered not only financial assistance but also a renewed sense of dignity and optimism as citizens of  Nigeria.
