SPORTS: Akinbami Submits Accounting Manual To NPFL Board

The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL in its unavowed bid to reposition the Nigeria Premier League Board and the League, is putting in place, an accounting manual for its finance department.

The Accounting Manual was presented and explained to the board and staff of the NPFL, by Mr Vincent Akinbami on the directives of the Chairman of the Board, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye during the NPFL Staff Retreat, held at the Sandralia Hotel in Abuja, recently.

Mr. Akinbami, who is a Chartered Accountant and Sports Administrator, reiterated that, "an accounting manual sets detailed guidelines for the financial department of an organization and its employees, to assist them in ensuring the orderly and efficient management and control of all programme resources and render proper accountability to all stakeholders.

"It is concerned with effective financial control over program assets, liabilities, income and expenditure together." He said.

He added that the manual addresses issues of accounting policies, organizational chart, overview of the finance and account department (responsibilities), cheque issuance, wire transfers, cash disbursement, cash handling, petty cash, fixed Asset, payroll, cash book maintenance, general ledger, and Reporting.
