Concerns have been raised about the clandestine efforts of corrupt political actors to undermine the nation’s democracy.

Raising this concerns on Wednesday, 3rd April in Abuja, the nation's capital is the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) in a statement issued by its President-General, Yerima Shettima

According to the AYCF President-General, "it is disheartening to witness a group of unscrupulous individuals attempting to sow discord among leaders for their own selfish political gains."

The forum highlighted the continuous attempts of certain northern politicians to drive a wedge in the relationship between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Minister of Defence, Bello Matawalle.

The forum further emphasized that "these corrupt politicians are uncomfortable with the support and promotion Matawalle provides to Tinubu's interests in the North."

In his statement, Shettima condemned the actions of this group, stating that, "Matawalle is targeted for his resilience against the recent rumors of instigation of the military to undermine democracy."

The AYCF stands firm in its commitment to preserving the democratic values of the nation and ensuring that such manipulative tactics do not hinder the democratic process.

The AYCF urges all Nigerians to remain vigilant against any attempt by corrupt politicians to subvert democracy and calls on law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute those who seek to undermine Nigeria's democratic system.

The AYCF remains committed to supporting leaders who prioritize Nigeria's development over personal gain and will continue advocating for policies that benefit all Nigerians.
