Damagum Praises PDP Governors Over Good Governance, Dividends Of Democracy ..... Says NWC will conduct credible congresses in states. By Bisi Ezekiel

"PDP governors have performed exemplary well in providing dividends of democracy to their people." Amb. Umar Damagum.

"Despite the fact that our party is not in control at the centre, PDP remains the best party in terms of good governance administration and delivery of dividends of democracy in the country."

Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Ilya Damagum has praised governors on the platform of the party for providing good governance in their respective states.

Appraising the one year in office of the current administration across states of the federation, he said PDP governors have performed exemplary well in providing dividends of democracy to their people.

According to Damagum, evidences of good governance abound in PDP controlled states with numerous infrastructural projects as well as human capital development programmes and policies targeted at improving lives of the citizenry. 

The party chairman stressed that, "in the past one year of the current political dispensation, it is obvious that PDP governors have performed creditably well. Recent awards by corporate media outfits and civil society organisations given to PDP governors are great testimony.

"Despite the fact that our party is not in control at the centre, PDP remains the best party in terms of good governance administration and delivery of dividends of democracy in the country.

"As most of the 13 governors of our party who are first term governors celebrate their first year in office, they have been commissioning and inaugurating laudable projects such as schools, roads, healthcare facilities, bridges and drainages and monumental infrastructures, making life better for their citizens. 

"Even those who are serving their second term in office have demonstrated improvement in governance by building on achievements made during their first term. Look at the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, he is the first governor to declare and have paid a N70,000 minimum wage for workers in his state while the federal government keeps on negotiating with labour unions. 

"Due to the transparent selection and recruitment  process in our party, there has been less feud and troubles in our states. This give our governors opportunity to fully concentrate on governance without unnecessary distraction".

Ambassador Damagum expressed confidence that with the activation of  conflict resolution mechanism, the party has been and will continue to resolve pockets of differences at state chapters and unite members ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said the process of having a united party at the state level start with a well conducted congresses from ward to state levels.

The Chairman, therefore, pledged that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party will provide a level.play ground for all members in the coming congresses at the state chapters. 

Damagum said; "the NWC under my watch will continue to be unbiased in the conduct of congresses which will soon commence across states to elect officers at all levels.

"We promise not to be bias but give everyone free access to express themselves in accordance with the party's guidelines and constitution. 

"The NWC will conduct free, fair, credible and unquestionable congresses across the states by sending credible members to the field. 

Damagum said PDP will continue to put the President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration on its toes through constructive criticism of policies and programmed of government that are inimical to the socio-economic development of Nigerians.

He urged the citizenry not to be despaired by policies of the Tinubu government which further plunges the masses into penury but totally support the PDP and other well meaning Nigerians in kicking out the APC at the centre in 2027 through the ballots.
