Nigeria, India Sign MOU On Cultural Exchange, Customs And Survey Cooperation.

"Nigeria and India have shared strong ties rooted in historical, cultural, and economic collaboration from the shared values of democracy and pluralism to their engagement in global platforms like the United Nations."

To promote the enhancement of cultural development, cooperation in the areas of Cultural Exchange, Cooperation in Customs and Survey Cooperation, the Federal Government of Nigeria has signed a Memoranda of Understanding with India.

The three MOU's which was signed on Friday at the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja are on Cultural Exchange, Survey Cooperation, Cooperation in Customs.

At the event, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dumoma Umar Ahmed, signed on behalf of Nigeria while the Secretary Economic Relations signed on behalf of India.

The Permanent Secretary, Amb. Ahmed during the event, said the MoUs are symbols of the shared vision of both countries.

According to him, "The MOUs we are signing today in the areas of Cultural Exchange, Customs and many diverse areas are symbols of our shared vision for growth, innovation, and sustainable development.”

He stated that the moment represents yet another milestone in the long-standing partnership and mutually beneficial relationship and cooperation between the two countries.

Ahmed said the partnership between the two countries has always been one of mutual respect and shared aspirations.

“Consequently, the MOUs we are signing today in the areas of Cultural Exchange, Customs and many diverse areas are symbols of our shared vision for growth, innovation, and sustainable development. He stated 

He further emphasized that the success of these MOUs depend not only on the Agreements signed today but also on the commitment to ensuring the implementation of their provisions.

"For decades, Nigeria and India have shared strong ties rooted in historical, cultural, and economic collaboration from the shared values of democracy and pluralism to our engagement in global platforms like the United Nations. 

"Our partnership has always been one of mutual respect and shared aspirations. 

"The recent visit by His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to participate at the G20 Leaders’ Summit from 9th-10th September, 2023 and the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of India, H.E. Nadradi Modi, further underscore our commitment to deepening this relationship and exploring new horizons of cooperation for the benefit of our people. He stated 

Ahmed emphasized that the success of these MOUs depend not only on the Agreements we sign today, but also on the commitment in ensuring the implementation of their provisions. 

Saying, "I am confident that the relevant stakeholders from our both countries will work together to ensure the realization of this great milestone for the benefits for our people.”
