FG Hands Over 59 Rescued Kidnap Victims To Kaduna Govt

The National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has handed over, 59 people rescued through joint security operations comprising the military, intelligence agencies and other security agencies in different parts of Kaduna state, to the Kaduna state Government. 

Speaking during the handover ceremony in his office in Abuja, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu disclosed that the rescue of the victims has demonstrated the determination of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to ensuring that the nation is secured and the citizens are protected.

“Once again, we are here as a joint operations of all the security forces under the directives of Mr. President to work extra to ensure that we bring peace and security and restore normalcy in our country. 

“Yet again, today we have just received those who were rescued from captivity as a result of kidnapping by bandits.

“They are going back to their homes, you have seen them. It has been the case, thousands and thousands of people by the God’s grace and the hard-work of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have been able to secure their freedom and they are going back. 

“We believe it is a journey, already a lot is taking place. We are restoring order, we are bringing justice, and we are bringing back peace to our country. About 59 or so people today, last week another number like that and thousands and thousands and it is an ongoing process across the country.” he said.

The National Security Adviser explained that they were rescued through a joint operation comprising the military and other security agencies.

"They were rescued through joint operations of all those who are in charge or in the forefront of fighting to keep us safe." He stated.

“The armed forces, the intelligence community, the civil police, all of us are working as one and we are seeing the result. 

“We thank God for this opportunity given to us, we will continue to work and indeed, it is a matter of time, Nigeria will be peaceful and we will definitely restore order.”

Mallam Ribadu commended the Kaduna state government for collaborating with the Federal Government and security agencies to restore security in the state.

In his response, the Kaduna state Governor, ably represented by his Chief of Staff, Sani Kila, reaffirmed the commitment of the state to ensure that all kidnapped persons in the state regain freedom. 

“This is the second time we are coming here to receive free captives. The last time was over 40 and you can practically see that we have 58 people before you now,“ he stated.

Commending the efforts of President Bola Tinubu for ensuring that security is number one priority in Nigeria, the representative of the Kaduna state Governor revealed that the captives were rescued along Abuja, Kaduna, specifically at Rijiana along Kaduna – Abuja Highway.

Speaking also at the Handover ceremony, the Chief of Army staff, Lt-Gen. Olufemi Oluyode, stated that the security agencies are onboard with the National Security Adviser to ensure the country is secured in line with the directive of President Tinubu.

 

Chief of Military/Civil Affairs, Major General Chibusi Gold who represented the Chief of Army Staff, said; “I came to represent the Chief of Army Staff for this very important event and to make the statement that the Army, the Air Force, the Navy and indeed all the military and intelligence security agencies and the police, are fully onboard with the National Security Adviser and we will continue to work under his coordination to ensure that the mandate given to us by the Commander-In-Chief is fully actualized.

“This is just one step and I believe that as we continue to work, more results will be delivered, which will be evident to all.” He said.

Speaking also at the ceremony, the National Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, NCTC, Major-General Adamu Garba Laka, disclosed that some of the victims spent over four months in the kidnapers den.
