The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has said the non-availability of resources required to conduct the outstanding Computer-Based Test (CBT) has delayed the completion of the ongoing federal civil service recruitment exercise.

The Commission, however, assured thousands of applicants awaiting the next stage of the exercise that the recruitment process had not been abandoned.

The FCSC, in a statement issued on Sunday by its Head of Press and Public Relations, Ibraheem Zakariyya, acknowledged growing anxiety and frustration among applicants over the delay in conducting the CBT for shortlisted candidates.

It said the next stage of the recruitment exercise would commence as soon as the required resources were made available.

According to the Commission, shortlisted candidates would be assigned to appropriate states where the CBT would be conducted once the necessary arrangements had been concluded.

“The Commission remains committed to completing the recruitment exercise and has not lost sight of the expectations of the thousands of Nigerians who participated in the process,” the statement said.

The Commission said its Chairman, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, was aware of the concerns surrounding the delay and remained committed to ensuring the completion of the exercise.

However, the FCSC said it could not give a specific date for the CBT, warning applicants against relying on information being circulated on unofficial social media platforms or by individuals claiming to have inside knowledge of the recruitment process.

It said details of the CBT, including the date, venue and modalities, would be announced through the Commission's official communication channels when arrangements for the exercise had been finalised.

The Commission also pledged to ensure that the recruitment process was conducted in a credible, transparent and merit-based manner, in accordance with the rules and procedures governing the Federal Civil Service.

It acknowledged the importance of employment opportunities to Nigerian youths and the expectations attached to the recruitment exercise, urging applicants to remain patient and await authentic information from official channels.

“Please be assured: the recruitment exercise has not been forgotten. The Commission remains committed to its completion once the required resources are made available,” the statement added.
