FCT MINISTER VOLLEYBALL COMPETITION KICKS OFF IN ABUJA .... As 37 Teams Line Up For Coveted Prizes

The 2nd edition of the Challenge 2025 of the Coalition of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Volleyball Clubs Competition scheduled to run from May 1-4, 2025, will feature thirty seven clubs from across the Federal Capital Territory FCT.


At a press briefing which held at the Media Center of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on Tuesday, the Coalition disclosed to journalists that the aim of the competition is to foster good and friendly relationship among Volleyball players and enthusiasts within the FCT and its environs.

Addressing journalists during the ceremony, Chairman of the FCT Volleyball Challenge Caretaker Committee and the Local Organising Committee, LOC, Retired Commodore James Aliyu Pindar disclosed that the purpose of the competition is to use it as an avenue to engage youths as well as, identifying talented volleyball players in the Territory and develop them to be able to play locally and internationally.


Tagged, Minister of FCT Volleyball Challenge 2025, the maiden edition of the was held in 2024.


According to Commodore Pindar (Retd.) “Other objectives include sensitising and engaging the youths in Volleyball activities within the FCT with a view of using sporting activities to manage the security challenges in the country. The Volleyball challenge is also our own contribution in support of the National Youth Development and National Security.


“Our vision for this year is to select players at 3 layers (under 17, 21 and senior team) that would constitute standing Volleyball teams in the male and female categories that would be capable of representing the FCT as a State and the Federation at all volleyball competitions.


"It is worthy of note that in the maiden edition last year, we had a total of 30 clubsides with 30 male and 21 female teams that participated. But this year, we have an increase of 33 clubsides, comprising 32 male and 22 female teams, would be participating. It is pertinent to note that all the matches would be played both at the outdoor and indoor of the parkage B, Moshood Abiola Stadium complex", Retired Commodore Pindar stated.
