Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated former Minister of Information and elder statesman, Prof Sam Oyovbaire, on the occasion of his 84th birth anniversary. 

Governor Oborevwori in a statement issued on Monday in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, described Prof Oyovbaire as a respected academic and patriotic leader who has contributed immensely to national development and the political growth of Delta State. 

He acknowledged Oyovbaire’s service to the state and the nation, particularly in his current role as Chairman of the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council, as well as during his tenure as Minister of Information under the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida, where he played a key role in shaping public policy and national discourse.

Oborevwori praised Prof Oyovbaire’s continued relevance in public affairs, noting his advisory role in successive administrations in Delta State and his commitment to the ideals of good governance, democracy, and intellectual engagement.

According to the Governor, “Professor Sam Oyovbaire is a distinguished scholar and statesman whose experience and wisdom have benefited not just Delta State, but the entire country. His contributions in the fields of political science, governance, and public policy continue to inspire many.”

The Governor also commended Oyovbaire’s role in mentoring younger generations and his support for policies aimed at promoting peace, unity, and development in the state.
