LIVESTOCK MINISTRY PARTNERS ONESERVE TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED ON NATIONAL DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE

Towards the development of a National Livestock Digital Public Infrastructure (NLDPI), the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development reaffirmed its partnership with OneServe Technologies Limited, a move aimed at transforming and promoting efficiency within Nigeria’s livestock sector.

Disclosing this recently is the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, when a delegation from OneServe Technologies Limited paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry in Abuja.

Maiha emphasized that the digital infrastructure presents vast opportunities for stakeholders across the livestock value chain. He noted that the Ministry is working on the introduction of custom-made vehicle wagons specifically designed for the safe and hygienic transportation of livestock. 

According to him, only registered wagons under the new digital system will be authorized to convey animals across the country.

“We are planning to have custom-made vehicle wagons for the transportation of livestock,” the Minister said. “The second aspect is private sector participation in red meat production. How many abattoirs do we have in the country? What are their capacities, and what is their state of functionality?” he queried.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of a national livestock master plan and comprehensive data collection, stressing that these would enhance transparency, coordination, and future planning in the sector.

In his remarks, the Team Lead, OneServe Technologies Limited,Ibrahim Maigari Ahmed ,explained that the livestock digital infrastructure would create an integrated database that captures vital information such as market locations, types of livestock breeds, available banking services, operational days, and proximity to major commercial areas.

Ahmed added that the platform would also provide users with access to registered veterinarians, transporters, and other relevant stakeholders, thereby fostering efficiency and accessibility.

“As a member of the public, when I click on the market link, I will see all registered doctors, transport companies, and stakeholders with their addresses, particularly those located near the market,” he explained.
