FERMA UNIONS DEBUNK PURPORTED ALLEGATIONS AGAINST CHAIRMAN, MANAGEMENT

The Joint Union of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has reacted to recent media reports on African Independent Television (AIT) headlines scroll, the full page publication in some national dailies such as Daily Sun, Daily Trust and Daily independent respectively dated 1st January 2026 that had purportedly accused the Chairman of the 6th Governing Board, alongside the management of gross abuses that includes interference of the Agency's day-to-day activities.

The Joint Union of FERMA, in a statement jointly signed respectively by Comrade Paul Onimisi, Chairman; ASCSN and his counterpart at the UPCTRE, Comrade Idris Abdulmumin, categorically refuted the allegations in the media publications; not including Naij News Alert, describing the allegations as false, stressing that "the press release and publication did not emanate from the Joint Union and it never reflected the Union's view and position". 

The statement noted that, "The Union, as a democratic body believes in decorum and due diligence in all its operations finds this offensive and belittling, therefore cannot and did not make those statements nor endorse such contents therein. "The Media houses on the other hand failed to do their due diligence as the signatures and names used were scanned and lifted by unknown mischievous persons who are bent on tarnishing our reputation." The statement read.

"The Joint Union therefore distance itself entirely from that publication and request that it be retracted because it's mischievous and malicious. 

"The Union remains committed to constructive engagements on the Agency Operations.

"The Union pledges her allegiance to the 6th Governing Board Chairman, the Management of FERMA and its staff so long as it is within the ambit of the Public Service Rule (PSR) and the FERMA Act towards achieving the Agency's legitimate statutory mandate." The statement concluded.
