TCN Set To Commission Kuje 132/33kV Transmission Substation. .... Says Substation will inject additional 144 megawatts into the national grid upon commissioning

The Kuje 132/33kV Transmission Substation is a 100 per cent completed facility. All equipment in both the control room and switchyard has been fully installed, while pre-commissioning tests have been successfully concluded. The substation is equipped with three (3) 60MVA power transformers, which will inject an additional 144 megawatts into the national grid upon commissioning.

The substation has nine (9) 33kV feeders that are ready to deliver bulk power to load centres within the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) network.

This development is expected to eliminate erratic power supply in the areas, stimulate local commerce, and improve the quality of life of residents.

The substation is supplied through two 132kV transmission lines—one from the Lugbe West Main Transmission Substation and the other from the New Apo Transmission Substation. Its 132kV control room houses control panels for remote outdoor switching operations, as well as protection panels designed to safeguard the transformers, busbars, and other critical equipment.

In addition, the installed substation automation system enables remote control of all outdoor equipment and provides an interface for the National Control Centre (NCC) to monitor and operate the substation remotely.
