Umahi Orders Immediate Reopening of Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road for Eid Travel

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has directed the contractor handling the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano highway project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, to immediately reopen all sections of the road to ease the movement of travelers during the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze, the directive was aimed at ensuring safer and smoother journeys for commuters traveling across the busy corridor during the festive period.

The Minister also confirmed that an earlier accident recorded along the highway had been completely cleared, restoring traffic flow on the critical route linking the Federal Capital Territory with several northern states.

To further guarantee the safety of road users, security agencies have been deployed to strategic locations along the highway to maintain law and order throughout the Sallah celebrations.

The Abuja–Kaduna–Kano road remains one of Nigeria’s busiest transport corridors, serving as a major economic and commercial link between the North and other parts of the country. The reopening is expected to bring relief to motorists and passengers who had faced delays due to ongoing construction works.
