TCN Restores Alaoji–Owerri Transmission Lines, Boosting Power Supply in South-East

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored the Alaoji–Owerri 132kV Transmission Lines 1 and 2, bringing relief to electricity consumers across parts of the South-East and strengthening power supply in the region.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, TCN disclosed that the two transmission lines were re-energized at 7:05 p.m. and 7:06 p.m., respectively, following the completion of repair works.

The restoration comes after extensive efforts by TCN engineers to address faults that had disrupted bulk power transmission along the critical corridor. The company noted that the return of both lines to service has reinstated a major transmission route for the evacuation of electricity to distribution companies serving affected areas.

According to TCN, the successful restoration will enhance grid reliability, improve power delivery, and reduce the pressure on alternative transmission routes that had been carrying additional loads during the outage period.

The company commended its technical team for the swift intervention and reassured electricity consumers of its continued commitment to maintaining a stable and efficient transmission network nationwide.

TCN further emphasized that it remains focused on strengthening the national grid through timely maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, and rapid response to faults in order to improve the quality of electricity supply across the country.
