NITDA, NAWOJ Unite to Drive Women's Digital Inclusion Nationwide

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) have forged a strategic partnership aimed at expanding digital inclusion for women and strengthening Nigeria's digital transformation agenda.

The collaboration was announced during a courtesy visit by a NAWOJ delegation, led by its National President, Comrade Aishatu Ibrahim, to NITDA Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, where the association sought the agency's support for the forthcoming Women in Security (WINSEC) Summit and Awards 2026.

Represented by the Director of Stakeholder Management and Partnerships, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, Inuwa pledged NITDA's active participation and support for the summit, describing women's inclusion as central to the agency's mandate.

He said the partnership would provide a wider platform to equip more Nigerian women with digital literacy and technology skills under NITDA's National Gender Inclusive Strategy.

According to him, inclusivity remains a core pillar of the agency's programmes, with at least 40 per cent of its initiatives deliberately designed to benefit women.

Beyond supporting the summit, Inuwa said the collaboration with NAWOJ would enable NITDA to extend its digital literacy programmes to women journalists and other women's groups across the country.

Earlier, Comrade Ibrahim commended the NITDA boss for his leadership in advancing Nigeria's digital economy, describing the agency as a catalyst for innovation and digital transformation.

She explained that the Women in Security (WINSEC) Summit and Awards 2026 is designed to promote collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, technology experts, the media and other stakeholders to address emerging security challenges through innovation.

She added that the event would also honour individuals and organisations making significant contributions to security, governance and technological innovation.

Ibrahim expressed optimism that a long-term partnership with NITDA would empower women journalists with cutting-edge digital skills while advancing digital inclusion, innovation and human capital development across Nigeria.

Both organisations agreed to work towards a formal partnership with clearly defined objectives aimed at expanding digital literacy, promoting innovation and accelerating women's participation in the country's digital economy.
