Residents and businesses in Abuja's Maitama District are set to enjoy restored electricity supply following the resolution of the crisis surrounding the C2 Maitama Substation, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) has announced.

The utility company disclosed that sustained engagements with stakeholders and government intervention brought an end to the dispute triggered by the invasion and encroachment on the critical power facility, clearing the way for repair works to begin.

AEDC said its engineers have mobilised to the site and commenced the repair, reinstatement and restoration of the damaged electricity infrastructure, with efforts focused on restoring power to affected communities as quickly and safely as possible.

The company commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of Power, Chief Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, for their prompt intervention and leadership, describing their roles as instrumental in resolving the impasse.

According to AEDC, the resolution marks a significant step towards normalising electricity supply in Maitama and neighbouring areas after disruptions caused by the incident.
