TCN, Afaka Youths Forge Stronger Alliance to Protect Power Infrastructure

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has strengthened its partnership with host communities in Kaduna State following a renewed commitment by the United Progressive Youth of Afaka (UPYA) to support the protection of the nation's critical electricity transmission infrastructure.

The pledge was made during a courtesy visit by the youth group to the TCN Kaduna Regional Office, where both parties reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration, peaceful coexistence and community participation in safeguarding transmission facilities.

Speaking during the meeting, the General Manager (Transmission), Kaduna Region, Engr. Nasir Mansur S. Fada, said TCN remains committed to sustaining open communication and mutual respect with host communities as part of efforts to secure transmission assets and improve electricity supply nationwide.

He explained that the company's community engagement strategy is designed to build trust, address concerns through dialogue and encourage residents to take ownership of transmission infrastructure, describing such facilities as national assets that require collective protection.

The Secretary-General of UPYA, Abdulhafiz Yahya, commended TCN for its impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and consistent engagement with the Afaka community. He assured the company of the group's continued support in protecting transmission installations from vandalism and other threats.

The engagement, according to TCN, reflects the success of its sustained stakeholder sensitisation programmes aimed at fostering stronger relationships with communities hosting transmission infrastructure.

The company noted that community partnerships remain critical to reducing vandalism, enhancing the security of power assets and ensuring a more reliable electricity transmission network across the country.
