CDCFIB Recruitment: Interior Ministry Disowns Fake Suspension Notice

The Federal Ministry of Interior has disowned a fake press release circulating on social media purporting to announce the suspension of the ongoing recruitment exercise of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

The Ministry, in a statement issued on Thursday and signed electronically by its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, described the purported statement dated August 11, 2026, as “fake, unauthorised and fraudulent.”

The fake document, attributed to the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, had claimed that the CDCFIB recruitment exercise was being deferred until after the 2027 general elections due to funding constraints.

However, the Ministry categorically rejected the claim, stressing that the purported statement neither originated from the Minister's office nor from the CDCFIB.

It further clarified that no decision has been taken to defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general election, urging applicants and members of the public not to be misled by the false publication.

“The exercise is ongoing,” the Ministry stated, putting to rest speculation triggered by the fake document.

The Ministry consequently advised applicants to disregard the circulating statement and rely exclusively on information released through its verified communication channels and those of the CDCFIB.

It also directed applicants to the official recruitment portal, cdcfib.gov.ng, for authentic updates concerning the exercise.

The development comes amid heightened public interest in the CDCFIB recruitment exercise, with thousands of applicants relying on official updates for information on the process.

The Ministry warned members of the public to be wary of unverified recruitment information circulating on social media and messaging platforms.
