The Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has accepted to lead a new political support organisation mobilising grassroots support across the North-West for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.

Goronyo accepted the leadership of the proposed Bello Muhammad Goronyo (BMG) Associates for Asiwaju/Shettima 2027 on Wednesday, September 10, 2026, when stakeholders from the seven North-West states, led by Dr Haris H.M. Jibril, visited him in his office.

The group formally presented the structure, operational framework and objectives of the organisation and sought the minister’s consent to serve as its National Convener and Leader.

It also sought permission to adopt his initials, BMG, as the organisation’s acronym, with plans to operate under his guidance and in accordance with the directives and leadership structure of the All Progressives Congress in the North-West.

The delegation said the initiative was conceived in recognition of Goronyo’s longstanding involvement in political mobilisation, leadership development and grassroots engagement, as well as his contributions to the APC’s electoral successes.

It described the minister as a leader associated with integrity, loyalty, mentorship and grassroots mobilisation, citing his experience within the North-West political structure as a major reason for placing the organisation under his leadership.

The stakeholders specifically recalled his role in youth mobilisation during the 2023 Presidential Campaign Council, as well as his previous positions as Director of Youth Mobilisation for the North-West and Zonal Secretary of the North-West APC.

According to them, those experiences and Goronyo’s understanding of the political dynamics of the region informed the decision to establish the platform under his leadership.

The organisation, they said, would mobilise support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, engage citizens at the grassroots, communicate the achievements of the Tinubu administration and promote the policies and programmes of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

It would also focus on constructive engagement with Nigerians, particularly youths and women, while encouraging responsible participation in the democratic process.

The proposed structure will have representatives across the seven North-West states, including state coordinators and officials responsible for youth and women mobilisation, organisation, communication and coordination across the three senatorial districts in each state.

The delegation also presented a proposed Standard Operating Procedure to guide the organisation, with emphasis on discipline, loyalty, accountability, teamwork, respect for constituted party leadership and responsible political engagement.

Responding, Goronyo commended the initiative and expressed appreciation to the delegation for its patriotism, commitment and confidence in his leadership.

He noted that many of those who visited him were people with whom he had worked within the APC campaign structure, adding that their decision to come together again reflected a shared commitment to Nigeria’s development, unity and prosperity.

The minister also linked the initiative to confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He stressed the importance of grassroots mobilisation in strengthening democratic participation and ensuring that government policies and programmes were effectively communicated to citizens.

Goronyo, however, said political mobilisation should be conducted with discipline, respect and responsibility, stressing the need to understand the concerns and aspirations of the people.

Highlighting the administration’s achievements, particularly in infrastructure, he said the Federal Government had prioritised road and rail projects as critical drivers of economic growth, national development and improved connectivity.

He listed the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Trans-Saharan Corridor, Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Corridor and Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway among the administration’s major legacy road projects.

He also cited the ongoing rehabilitation and construction of strategic projects such as the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, saying improved infrastructure would enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, reduce travel time, create economic opportunities and strengthen national integration.

Goronyo added that the administration’s interventions extended beyond roads to railway development and other critical sectors aimed at improving transportation, facilitating the movement of goods and people and supporting economic activities.

He urged members of the support organisation to communicate the administration’s achievements in a clear, respectful and factual manner, particularly to Nigerians who might not yet fully understand its policies, programmes and reforms.

The minister said effective political mobilisation required listening to the people, understanding their concerns and communicating government policies in a manner capable of promoting trust, unity and confidence in democratic institutions.

Goronyo assured the delegation that he had accepted the responsibility and would provide leadership, guidance and strategic direction to the organisation.

He said, “As the Secretary of the Support Groups of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Presidential Campaign Council, we will continue to work with you, mobilise Nigerians and engage our people constructively towards ensuring the successful return of our dear President, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2027, Insha Allah.”

The minister subsequently inaugurated the organisation and charged its leadership and members to remain united, disciplined, accountable and committed to responsible political mobilisation across the North-West.

He urged them to build a strong grassroots network capable of reaching communities and effectively communicating the policies, programmes and achievements of the Federal Government.

Goronyo further called for unity, discipline and loyalty among members, while urging them to work collectively towards strengthening support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and the successful re-election of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in 2027.

He also pledged to work with political leaders, party officials and other stakeholders across the North-West to ensure that the organisation operates within the framework of responsible political mobilisation, party discipline and effective grassroots engagement.

The minister charged the organisation’s leadership to ensure inclusiveness and fairness in its operations and encouraged members to promote peaceful political participation and respect differing views within the democratic space.

He concluded by praying for divine guidance and continued peace, unity, stability and prosperity for Nigeria.
