POLICE ARREST MASSOB LEADER, 46 OTHERS IN CROSS RIVERS

The members of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB recently, celebrated its 17 years of peaceful struggle of its cause across the South East region and some South-south states of Nigeria.


The Police Command most of the states with membership of MASSOB were however on alert in case of any likely breach of security.

In Cross River state, the police Command reports that it has intercepted the leader of the Movement for the Actualization for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) in Odukpani Local Government of the state along with 46 other members.

According to the State’s Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, the command got intelligence report that following their meeting in Ikom Local Government Area of the state, the MASSOB members had wanted to proceed to Calabar.

According to the Commissioner of Police, the Command, following the intelligence moved and stopped the group before reaching the metropolis to prevent any likely breach of the peace in the state.

CP Inuwa revealed further that the group was brought to the State Command Headquarters for questioning upon which they will be released if their intentions are lawful "as no weapon was found on them".
