NO CARETAKER COMMITTEES FOR LGA's.....Says Okowa

Amidst the appointment of Caretaker Committees by several state Governors to run the affairs of Local Government Councils in their respective states, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa of Delta State has said that he will not run the Local Government Councils with caretaker committees.

Okowa made the declaration while fielding questions from members of the public during a Town Hall meeting held at Agbor.

Okowa, again reiterated that his administration was committed to conducting the local government elections, adding that, dates for the electioneering processes would soon be fixed.

"We are making plans to conduct the local government elections as soon as those in office bow out. One thing I can assure you is that the local government councils in Delta State will not be managed by any caretaker committee", he said.

Speaking on the dredging of the Orogodo River, Governor Okowa stated that he would take out time to visit the place, decrying the incompetency of the contractor awarded the contract.

Senator Okowa reiterated the state government's resolve for zero tolerance to kidnapping, cultism and other social vices, saying anyone found guilty would go in for it.

"Properties of accomplices of kidnapping would either be confiscated of destroyed", he insisted.
