Speaking with Stakeholders on effective management of fire outbreaks in Nigeria which has resulted in the loss of lives and properties running into billions of naira and not excluding the loss of irretrievable documents of sensitive value.

Abdulkadir Abdullahi, a Safety expert based in the nation's capital says it is not enough to have vigilant security personnel on duty but there is a greater need for effective warning mechanisms to be installed in such structures of immense value and importance to the nation.

According to Abdullahi, such mechanisms would immediately identify and isolate the defects and trip off the electricity supply immediately to the property thereby safeguarding the property.

Badmus Agwo believes that the timely intervention of the vigilant security personnel must be commended by the authorities.

With the number of Ministries located at the Federal Secretariat, there is an urgent need for government to provide regular maintenance checks, especially as it concerns old and faulty electrical fittings in all of its structures especially its various Ministries.
