KADUNA APC CRISIS: Be Prepared For the Worst is Yet to Come......Group Warns

All, certainly is not over concerning the lingering crisis within the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Kaduna state.

A faction of the APC, known as APC AKIDA, has come out to pass a "No-Confidence Vote" on the government of Mallam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai following what they described as a "Government of lies even at the risk of destroying its own image".

The group; APC AKIDA (True APC) in a statement issued July 10th, in Kaduna titled "Walking Out of the Crisis", noted that, "two years down the line, our people have only witnessed greater hardship, dehumanization and complete disregard to the basic sense of humanity".

The statement which was signed by Mr. Maitamaki Tom Maiyashi, revealed that the "basic difference that an APC Government should have distinguished itself from the past should be its attitude to the promotion of the dignity and welfare of workers, peasants, the youth, women and the less privileged in our society" but regretted that despite the overwhelming support it received from the authors of change, the "scorecard have been a disappointing performance.

The APC AKIDA noted that the destruction of community peace or, mortgaging the future of our children whose state of education and development, is hitting its worst level.

Chronicling the state of affairs of the party in Kaduna, the group expressed its dismay at the near total absence of leadership of the party at all levels as it has been deliberately weakened and virtually rendered ineffective.

Other points raised include; the complete lack of consultation with critical stakeholders even on matters relating to party members or the community.

Also, government's intolerance of any opinion contrary to the mindset of the Governor is said to be high while mercenaries are hired to attack individuals and anybody who dares any opinion meant to add value to public policy.

It described the government's refusal to accept inputs from genuine stakeholders except those of hired consultants specifically recruited from outside the statewho do NOT even understand our environment and lack the commitment to address our developmental priorities.

According to the APC AKIDA, these cronies and agents so recruited have virtually rendered the State Civil Service redundant, it said.

On the issue of traditional and community institutions in the state which has become a sore point, the APC AKIDA group described it as an attack.

The sack of 4,453 village heads and district heads in the state via a circular from the Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Jafaru Sani, ordered Chairmen of Traditional Councils to submit, within two (2) weeks, names for the consideration of government for the recognized districts.

The APC AKIDA group warned the people of the state to prepare themselves for the worst to come, under this administration, saying that, Kaduna state, which presently ranks as the second most indebted state in the country, raised fears concerning the government's request for a World Bank loan facility to the tune of $350m.

"What is the wisdom in securing such a huge foreign loan from the World Bank without the consideration of critical stakeholders?"

"We put our communities and our elders on notice on this sensitive issue that the governor is actually aiming at pulling down the traditional institution in its entirety".

The APC AKIDA group however called on the Kaduna State House of Assembly to immediately come clean on this issue by publicly explaining to the people, their role in this destructive and insulting policy that could potentially place community security on the edge.

The group stated that, "Community leaders play a vital role in facilitating peaceful coexistence; a role far remote for government to accomplish".

It lamented that the "Change Project has only succeeded in producing a mega wrecking machine that has destroyed the integrity of our party, and taken all of us to the slaughter lab, insisting that it will continue to work for peace and certainly, protect and sustain the honour and integrity  of our great party", the statement concluded.
