"Demonstration Against Niger Delta Ministry, Sponsored", Says Marshall Gundu

Emmanuel Onotevure - Abuja  Following demonstrations against the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, the Ministry officials have disclosed that the Federal Government of Nigeria is aware of a sponsored demonstration.

A statement issued by Mr. Marshall Gundu, the Director of Press, disclosed that the sponsors of this plot are those individuals who had been involved in running the affairs of the MDAs saddled with the responsibility of supervising, coordinating and implementing government policies in the Niger Delta region.

"They are ostensibly scared of their fate in the on-going exercise to uncover the several malfeasances and scam involved in the procurement processes of the Ministry and its agencies, and to conduct a holistic audit of the development efforts in the region", Gundu said.

According to the statement, "the Ministry wishes to inform all well-meaning Nigerians that this exercise to uncover and remedy the rot in the Ministry (and all other agencies working for the development of the region) is a pragmatic effort by the current administration to foster the realization of self-worth in every indigene of the Niger Delta, for the sole purpose of positive living and synergy between the nation state and the Niger Delta region, and to anchor such on the common ethics of humanity".

"It is to further create ownership of sectoral development, and building such on political, social and economic tools towards a virile, efficient and sustainable regional economy", the statement concluded.
